Lumber/Warehouse Delivery Driver Job Description
A Lumber/Warehouse Delivery Driver’s primary role is to assist customers, stock merchandise, deliver materials including lumber to customers and/or job sites.
Main duties include but are not limited to, assisting customers by advising them in the selection of building materials and supplies needed in order to complete the task the customer is asking to perform.
May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Primary job functions require exercising independent judgment at times. Abides by pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job set forth by the department manager. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
Handling customer phone orders or custom requests with courtesy and professionalism.
Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information to the best of your ability or involve the assistant manager or manager when necessary.
Greet customers when entering or leaving department and provide answers to customer inquiries regarding Lumber/Warehouse materials.
Engages and maintains a professional working relationship with vendors.
Fulfills orders based on customer requests, which includes, cutting items based on size request of customer and will assist customer to load purchased materials into their vehicle.
Maintains the Lumber/Warehouse area by ensuring exposed materials are covered, when necessary, to prevent weather damage, moves materials and supplies from the receiving area to the display area, monitors area to ensure it is safe for operation at all times. Cleans the warehouse restroom.
Assists in maintaining truck fleet and forklifts. Ensuring both are in good, clean and safe working order. This may also require restocking of supplies in delivery trucks,
(Visqueen, folders, straps, etc). In addition, ensuring to fuel vehicles toward the end of the work day.
Assists receiving department when materials need to be unloaded
Assists loading outgoing materials on delivery trucks
Delivers lumber and materials to job sites or residential project sites.
Receives incoming calls to Lumber Department/Warehouse
Report mechanical problems with any equipment through the use of Work Order Forms.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 to 100 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision.

Valid Chauffeur’s License required within the first 30 days of employment
