    Job Description

    Summary

    The product engineering internship is designed to give students a realistic preview of a role as a Product Engineer in the heavy manufacturing industry. The intern will be assigned hands-on learning projects which will require an eye for critical dimensions and tolerances, and skills in drafting, statistical analysis, organizational, and basic problem solving. The intern must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have good communication skills.

    The Product Engineering Intern must be in the process of obtaining a degree in engineering, applied engineering, or related technical field.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
    • Document process that provide work instructions for inventory control, planning, purchasing.
    • Must have Tango experience.
    • Apply classroom concepts and skills to real world business challenges.
    • May assist with cycle counting.
    • Assist in establishing home locations for parts.
    • Updates and maintains the product MOVE SHEET data base.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Enrollment Requirement: You must be a junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college, university, or master's program. Preferably in a supply chain or business discipline.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
    • This is a part-time, temporary position with a variable schedule that may be worked around school schedules.
    • Must be available a minimum of 12 hours per week and up to a maximum of 29 hours per week.

    Language Skills

    Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Should be able to speak effectively to customers, management and/or other fellow employees of the organization.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
