ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR FOR THEATRE (PLAYWRITING)

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:
The successful Adjunct Instructor for Theatre (Playwriting) must possess the academic and practical expertise to guide student learning and success, and to serve as a mentor and model for students. The applicant should demonstrate strong instructional skills and the ability to engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Adjunct Instructor for Theatre (Playwrighting) is primarily responsible for teaching THE 215: Playwriting GT-AH1, although additional assignments may be available, based on the applicant’s areas of expertise. While the instructor is free to choose supplementary materials, the curriculum, projects for department-level assessments, and some assignments are provided for their courses. This instructor is expected to participate in Program-Level assessment projects, and to conform to the departmental requirements for attendance and participation in departmental meetings and required trainings.
MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: The successful Theatre (Playwriting) adjunct instructor must have a terminal MFA degree in Playwriting, Writing for Performance, or a closely-related Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in Theatre.
EXPERIENCE: No prior teaching experience is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: Experience working with underserved populations, calls for script submissions, theatrical agencies, publishing companies, agents, and young writers.
