Founded in 1998, Malta House is currently looking to welcome a front desk security professional who wants to make a measurable and meaningful impact in the lives of our most vulnerable in the community. The Front Desk Receptionist/Security Officer serves as the first point of contact for Malta House’s constituents, plays a lead role in maintaining a positive and safe home environment, and aids in cultivating strong and lasting relationships with our community.
Essential Function:
Key Responsibilities:
· Greets Malta House guests in a friendly and professional manner.
· Provides excellent hospitality when answering calls and directing guests to the proper department.
· Helps to maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring surveillance cameras and actively monitoring/patrolling the property; adheres to all safety and security procedures.
· Monitors the sign-in/sign-out process and the activity of guests and volunteers in the building to ensure the safety of staff, residents, and guests.
· Contacts fire department or law enforcement in case of an emergency.
· Receives mail, documents, packages, and courier deliveries and delivers or distributes items as needed.
· Coordinates with the Outreach Coordinator to ensure all donations are stocked properly in a timely manner.
· Maintains the shared front desk/copy area to be organized and functional.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Schedule: First Shift 22.5 and Second Shift 20 hours per week Monday through Friday: first role 8:30 0 1:00 and 2nd role 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment; will involve climbing stairs
Education, Skills, Experience
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· One year of related work experience as front desk receptionist/security required
· Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements and/or certifications for Security Officers/Guards
· First Aid/CPR/ and AED certification preferred
· Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Must be highly reliable and responsible
· Must have discretion in managing sensitive and/or confidential information
· Ability to handle multiple priorities
· Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations
· Ability to be a fast learner and adapt to change
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google platform
· Must be able to share an enthusiastic commitment to the mission of Malta House
