Project Engineer/Manager

McKean Defense is seeking a Project Engineer / Project Manager to provide technical coordination and lifecycle support for U.S. Navy Machinery Control Systems (MCS). The candidate will be responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating the technical team providing system development, deployment, and integration of systems. Role and responsibilities include:
Leading a team through a technical project
Effectively prioritize and execute tasks
Work effectively with other organizations, functions, project sponsors, and vendors/manufacturers
Coordinate technical requirements across team members, ensuring successful performance
Support resource / workload management; ensure proper manning
Develop, update, and manage project schedules, risk matrices, and presentations with inputs from technical teams
Implement and enforce existing processes with the technical team
Produce progress reports and/or presentations
Provide management and tracking of system trouble and improvement reports
Facilitate configuration management of work products
Required Skills
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred. Engineering Management or other engineering degrees may be considered, along with demonstrated knowledge/experience with electrical/control systems.
Knowledge of concepts and practices associated with control systems
Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams
Technical writing ability
Self-motivated, able to work in team environment
Experience leading a team through a technical project
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills
Planning/organizational skills
Ability to travel up to 25%
DoD clearance is required, or ability to obtain one.
Required Experience
2+ years of experience in engineering (preferably electrical/computer) related to control systems
Experience using test and diagnostic tools associated with control systems testing/troubleshooting
2+ years experience in a project/technical management role
Project Management certification a plus, but not required
