    SUMMARY

    McLarens is searching for a General Adjuster / Regional General Adjuster / National General Adjuster working in the Boston, MA area. The General Adjuster / Regional General Adjuster / National General Adjuster must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision handling larger and/or complex commercial property claims up to $300,000.00 in a prompt, equitable and professional manner. A General Adjuster / Regional General Adjuster / National General Adjuster must have the ability to engage and direct experts of all disciplines, analyzes coverage and report accurate estimates of damage while managing all components of the loss. A General Adjuster / Regional General Adjuster / National General Adjuster negotiates settlement within the authority granted by the insurer, to the conclusion of assigned claims. A General Adjuster / Regional General Adjuster / National General Adjuster must be available to assist other adjusters for field assistance as required/necessary.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Examine claims forms, policies, client instructions and other documents to assist their client in determining coverage.

    • Reviews complex financial data, inventories, contracts, quotes, estimates and other documents and apply sound adjusting techniques to determine loss amounts as covered by the applicable policy.

    • Visit insured to investigate cause/circumstances/extent of damage

    • Review policy coverage. Raise questions where appropriate with insurers

    • Timely reporting to clients; maintain diary

    • Liaise with insured and insurer, broker, engaged experts, etc.

    • Agree to costs with insured, when directed by our client.

    • Bring matters to a timely, equitable resolution

    • Prepares estimates of damage using Xactimate estimating software and other documents as required.

    • Prepares reports from our proprietary claims system by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state and federal government and by McLarens.

    • Some experience in the management of an assisting team or individual adjusters.

    • Controls claim costs.

    • Recommends litigation or subrogation when appropriate.

    • Show the ability to start to develop accounts.

    • Will carry the appropriate licenses as required by the various state Departments of Insurance (DOI).

    • Perform other duties as instructed by their Director of Operations (DOO).

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Xactimate skills to write an estimate to $250,000.00
    • Negotiation skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical ability.
    • Ability to plan and prioritize.
    • Travel may be required.
    • Promotion period once per year to begin the 1st of each fiscal year.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Required: 3-5 years of claims adjusting or relevant experience.
    • Required: Claims Adjuster experience.
    • Required: 4-year college degree or equivalent job experience.
    • Required: Appropriate state adjuster license.
    • Required: Ability to handle commercial losses up to $300,000.00

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Generally, 40 hours per work week for catastrophe assignments, operation of a laptop/PC equipment, travel and inspecting property claims, which may include obtaining measurements of the roof and living areas, inspecting attics, basements, crawl spaces, and other claim locations as applicable (requires walking, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crawling, and lifting objects typically weighing less than 50 lbs.). The role may also require lifting, carrying, unfolding/extending, and climbing of an OSHA approved ladder (which may exceed 50 lbs. in weight) for roof inspections on both residential and commercial structures. Employees are expected to produce quality work and complete all assignments.
