Job Summary and Qualification: This position pre-registers and schedules our individuals for appointments, procedures, tests, and other services in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. Must believe in the core values of the organization and be driven by its mission. Answers incoming calls, and completes follow-up and medical referrals. The Medical Scheduler must be action-oriented as evidenced by working hard and looking for challenges. Must have good organizational skills to successfully manage multiple and competing situations through analysis and good judgment based on client/caregiver needs and timeliness. It is the primary duty of the medical scheduler to ensure that all the individuals’ medical appointments agency-wide are scheduled on time and compliant with all federal regulations (waiver standards) including compliance with all provider qualification requirements.
Work Schedule The normal work week of this position is 40 hours. The position, however, requires the Medical Scheduler's work schedule to be flexible as determined by the Program’s needs and extraordinary circumstances that often occur.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Develop detailed oriented medical appointment schedules for our clients.
· Provide support to our medical team in ensuring clients’ appointments are scheduled on time.
· Schedules follow-up appointments per the physician’s order.
· Serving as the primary point of contact between the agency and the individuals’ medical providers.
· Ensuring that quality services are provided, and individual satisfaction is met.
· Handling clients’ medical concerns and responding to calls.
· Developing and maintaining medical appointment schedules for all our individuals.
· Maintaining records and data.
· Referring Individuals to other medical providers for immediate care as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· High School/BS degree level education is required.
· Ability to show compassion towards others.
· Excellent communication skills to effectively and accurately interact with individuals and their medical providers.
· Must possess active listening skills.
