Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Electrical Engineer to join our team in the building industry. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in electrical engineering principles, with a focus on building systems. They should have a solid understanding of California regulations, including the California Building Code, and California Electrical Code. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of projects across various industries, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable electrical systems. Proficiency in utilizing Revit and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software is essential for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and Planning:
Develop electrical design concepts, specifications, and calculations for various building types, including multifamily, commercial, retail, industrial, and life science projects, adhering to industry codes, standards, and regulations.
Create schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams, and layouts for power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive integration of electrical systems.
Continuously seek innovative ways to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of electrical designs while maintaining safety and compliance.
System Analysis:
Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short-circuit calculations, and coordination studies to optimize system performance.
Evaluate the feasibility of renewable energy sources, energy-efficient technologies, and sustainability practices for electrical systems.
Technical Documentation:
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for construction documentation.
Generate technical reports, project documentation, and compliance documentation as required by regulations and industry standards.
Project Management:
Supervise and guide team members while collaborating with other departments on design coordination.
Review and coordinate projects prior to transmittal for completeness.
Ensure that projects are completed within the designated timeframes.
Participate in project meetings, providing technical insights and updates on electrical design progress.
Assist in project scheduling, budget estimation, and resource allocation related to electrical engineering tasks.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct analysis to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and regulations.
Collaborate with the quality assurance team to verify performance and safety of electrical installations.
Client Engagement:
Communicate effectively with clients, addressing their technical inquiries and providing deliverables.
Collaborate with the business development teams to support project execution including responding to inquiries, reviewing submittals, and participating in virtual meetings to ensure proper installation and functionality of electrical systems.
Professional Development:
Stay current with industry trends, advancements in electrical engineering, and emerging technologies.
Identify opportunities for innovation and propose solutions to enhance project outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or a related field).
Strong knowledge of California regulations, including the California Building Code, and California Electrical Code.
Solid understanding of Autodesk AutoCAD.
Proficiency in utilizing Revit and BIM software for designing and documenting building systems.
Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, HVAC systems, electrical power distribution, lighting systems, fire protection systems, and energy efficiency.
Experience in the building industry, preferably with a focus on commercial or residential projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Professional engineering licensure in California (preferred but not required).
Familiarity with sustainable design practices and LEED certification is a plus.
Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
