Position Summary
DataFielder is seeking an MES Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) within our production facilities for a leading Global Automative Manufacturing organization. This is a long-term contract opportunity (12+ months) In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze manufacturing processes, configure MES software, and provide technical expertise to optimize operations.
This role requires strong technical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing systems, and the ability to troubleshoot and improve MES performance. You will also play a key role in integrating MES with other manufacturing systems, ensuring smooth operations and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
MES System Design & Configuration
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing needs and develop MES solutions that support business objectives.
- Configure and customize MES software to optimize workflows, data collection, and reporting.
- Conduct testing and validation to ensure system accuracy and reliability.
System Implementation & Integration
- Assist in the deployment of MES systems, ensuring projects meet deadlines and budget requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors to integrate MES with other manufacturing systems such as ERP, SCADA, and PLCs.
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues during implementation.
System Maintenance & Support
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime in production.
- Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting system errors and ensuring effective use of MES functionalities.
- Work with IT teams to manage system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Analyze manufacturing data and workflows to identify areas for improvement using MES technology.
- Implement process enhancements such as automation, cycle time reduction, and improved production workflows.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing data-driven insights for decision-making.
Documentation & Training
- Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring proper system usage and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in MES management within a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems.
- Experience in MES system improvement and user requirement development.
- Knowledge of programming languages and database management, including:
- Experience with system and database performance optimization.
- Ability to develop interface programs for equipment automation.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to support a positive team environment.
- Interest in and knowledge of the automotive industry and emerging technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the automotive industry.
- Bilingual (English & Korean) is a plus.
