  • Responsibilities

    Advantia's Maternal Fetal Medicine Department is seeking a full-time/part-time Sonographer to out of 2-3 of the Practice in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. To be successful as a sonographer, you should have excellent patient service and communication skills, as well as a MFM Sonographer you must have a keen eyesight and attention to detail and have technical skills, as well as sound judgment and decision-making skills. _


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Creates a preliminary report for physician review/signature.

    • Reviews studies with physicians.

    • Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.

    • Codes appropriate for services performed.

    • Maintains proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.

    • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate corrective action.

    • Maintains laundry for examination rooms.

    • Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.

    • Follows the accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.

    • ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible

    • Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain with 12 months of hire. Fetal echo experience preferred or will be provided. Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities. Participates in professional development activities and meetings.

    • Completion of a program containing OB/GYN ultrasonography.

    • CPR certification required.

    • Satisfactory completion of one of the following; at least two (2) years in Allied Health Educational Program and one (1) year on-the-job- training in ultrasonography, or completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program.

    • Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS).

    • Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
