ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ADMINISTRATOR POSTING
MM Metals USA is currently searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Administrator to join its leadership team to drive its successful launch. The qualified candidate will be part of a team that helps develop policy and procedures; instills corporate culture, and sets the tone for driving future results. We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Administrator with experience in hot metal or similar high-temperature manufacturing, steel mill, furnaces, foundries, quenching, and casting operations. This will be a 24/7, 365 operation with two 12 hour shifts a day. MM Metals USA is under construction with a state-of-the-art facility in Fairless Hills, PA with a need to bring on a qualified and experienced Environmental Health and Safety Administrator immediately to help with documenting policies and procedures, process training, and commissioning of equipment. Production start date targeted for Q2 2021.
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ADMINISTRATOR
The Environmental Health and Safety Administrator will perform environmental, health, and safety functions in relation to starting up and/or maintaining and improving an industrial furnace and manufacturing facility. This will entail you working closely with plant operations, supervision, engineering, and management to ensure a safe work environment as well as Environmental compliance with local and
state and federal programs and agencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, implement, and sustain safe work practices and improving processes to eliminate potential hazards and reduce risks
- Work with operations and facilities management to ensure a safe and secure working environment to prevent workplace accidents and ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), DEP, and local standards
- Develop health and safety procedures and programs for all departments plant-wide and monitor safety compliance to reduce risks
- Complete thorough root cause analysis for all accidents and incidents at the site
- Complete and submit Worker’s Compensation documentation
- Manage and facilitate the operation of employee programs including a Safety Committee
- Evaluate hazards within the facility for safety, health, and environmental risks
- Monitor and trend safety statistics in the operation and implement corrective actions
- Supervise training sessions for emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, forklift safety, bloodborne pathogens, lockout/tag-out, other OSHA and safety-related topics
- Complete and submit all required federal, state, and local EHS reporting, Emergency Response Action Plan (ERAP), hazardous waste, air emissions, and water discharge, and OSHA 300 Log
- Maintain DEP records of hazardous waste, air emissions, and water discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations
- Work with the engineering department to ensure current and future departments are designed with safety in mind and meet industry standards and regulations
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding the advancement of environmental, health and safety practices
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have 5 years of experience in an EHS administrator role in manufacturing processes that include Hot Molten Metal Furnaces or Steel Mill/Metal/Ore Foundries or Metal Castings or similar high-temperature manufacturing.
- Bachelor's degree, Associates degree, equivalent experience, in EHS or Industrial Operations
- Must have a strong working knowledge of DEP and OSHA regulations as they pertain to a manufacturing environment
- Must have a working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in spreadsheets, database, OSHA 300 reporting, and presentation software
- OSHA Safety Management certificate, forklift license, and training certification
- Very knowledgeable with regulatory requirements for operating plants.

MM Metals will be the first and only manufacturing facility to produce low carbon ferrochrome in the USA in over 40 years
MM Metals has been granted a permit to produce low carbon ferrochrome in Pennsylvania, USA and is on target to be in production in Q1 2021.
MM Metals will sell high purity low carbon ferrochrome directly to steel mills, alloy producers, and other specialty metals industries.
Low carbon ferrochrome is used in the production of stainless steel alloys and high chromium alloys.
Low carbon ferrochrome is designated a critical material by the US Department of Defense and is vital to the production of defense equipment.
MM Metals will operate from a new state of the art facility in Pennsylvania and over 80% of the hardware is being manufactured in the USA.
The facility will use many locally sourced raw materials including scrap aluminum which will be re-melted and cast into small granules which are then used as a reductant to produce low carbon ferrochrome from ore.
