  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The General Worker will perform various tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials. As the General Worker, you will also be tasked with general housekeeping and material handling as needed, including loading and unloading trucks.

    Scope of Responsibilities

    • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
    • Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
    • Wear appropriate PPE, which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
    • Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
    • Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles.
    • Trash removal and disposal from each bay.
    • Remove and dispose of shavings from each bay.
    • Assist with keeping aisleways clear and sweeping the shop floors.
    • Take packages from the warehouse receiving rack to the appropriate person and deliver packing lists to Shipping/Receiving
    • Assist with setting up new coolant drums for machines throughout the shop.
    • Empty oil containers from the oil/water separators as needed.
    • Debur parts and prep to ship finished goods.
    • Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
    • Move and handle parts with crane and fork trucks.
    • Other tasks and duties as needed.

    Work Environment

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to hold, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

    • The employee is required to communicate both verbally and written in English.

    • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    • Must be able to meet and adhere to physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection)

    • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.

    • Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.

    • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

    • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color.

    • Must have the ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.

    • Some high school education. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
    • Material handling experience

    Position Requirements

    • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
    • Must be able to meet and adhere physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and mask).
    • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
    • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
    • Must have the ability to operate forklift or overhead crane.
    • Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
    • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

    Additional Information

    1st Shift M-F 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

    Hourly Rate: $18.62 - $20.81
