    POSITION SUMMARY:  PRODUCTION

    Maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare is paramount in this position.  On a daily basis Production House workers are dedicated to caring and providing a safe environment for hens as well as performing other associated duties assigned by the Production Manager.  Additionally, they also perform routine maintenance on the house including the feeding/watering/heating/lighting systems as needed.  They also utilize proper Biosecurity standards when entering and exiting houses.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Cleans walls and ceilings, maintains established house cleanliness standards, and performs other routine housekeeping duties as assigned
    • Uses air hoses to clean buildings; flushes water lines routinely
    • Records information according to instructions
    • Inspects hens for diseases and removes weak, injured, ill, and dead hens from flock
    • Monitors feed, water, illumination, ventilation, and other house systems to ensure they are operating properly
    • Monitors egg belts and elevators for egg jams
    • Records water consumption, feed consumption, temperature in houses
    • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor
    • Follows all established Safety and Biosecurity policies and procedures at all times
    • Maintains high standards of animal welfare at all times
    • Attends staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required
    • Assists in the Processing area as required and instructed
    • Performs all other duties as assigned

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Prior personal or professional experience working with livestock on a farm setting is preferred
    • Able to walk approximately 5-10 miles daily, bend & reach, push & pull
    • Able to work around manure and dust
    • Able to work in an environment with caged or cage-free birds
    • High school diploma or GED preferred
    • Basic mechanical skills
    • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements
    • Able to follow spoken and written instructions in English
    • Reliable and dependable
    • Able to perform all aspects of this job (repetitive movements, standing for long periods, lifting up to 75 pounds, performing visual inspections of materials, containers, feeders, operations, etc.)
    • Able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends, and holidays
