The Multidisciplinary Team System of Support (MTSS) Specialist is a critical component of our school and plays an integral role in our support system for young people.
The MTSS Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing and developing multi-tiered systems of support, including working collaboratively across teams to create a school wide strategic plan for MTSS i Tiers I, II and III in basic needs, academic supports, attendance, social and emotional learning and relationships, and mental and physical health. The MTSS Specialist will facilitate phased and leveled stages of implementation, providing ongoing MTSS implementation guidance and support to site MTSS teams and coordinating ongoing check-ins between departments to ensure system alignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads PATH team meetings for all grade bands.
- Leads multidisciplinary team (M-Team) and all meetings associated with the multidisciplinary team (M-team).
- Meets with key teams (multilingual learners, exceptional learners, culture, human services and leadership) regularly to ensure scholars are receiving the necessary interventions and those interventions are being tracked.
- Expands access to research-based tiered interventions.
- Coaches and supports MTSS team in their design and implementation of systemic data-based shifts directly related to scholar needs.
- Identifies and implements effective data management system for MTSS.
- Revises, as necessary, intervention monitoring tools, procedures and processes for intervention referrals.
- Supports and expands the abilities of general education articulation process for scholars with intervention needs.
- Facilitates professional development with interventionists, teachers, staff and administrators.
- Develops protocols for referral process.
- Develops protocols for intervention process.
- Keeps up-to-date on laws and regulations regarding Section 504 and supports intervention teams with training, process and alignment with legal guidelines for practice.
- Facilitates professional development for Section 504.
- Consults and collaborates with teachers, families and administrators to find effective solutions to learning and behavior needs and expands educational interventions to mitigate special education over identification and disproportionality.
- Participates in planning, implementing and integrating services for tiered intervention needs.
- Assists school staff and teams to understand child/adolescent development and how it affects learning and behavior.
- Maintains standards and practices through participation in professional development conferences and seminars.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
- Ability to work with a wide range of individuals and to interact cheerfully and professionally with the public
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent organization, communication, writing, and editing skills
- The ability to see what needs to be done and to take initiative in doing it
- Interpret data, facts, procedures and policies.
- Work independently.

EXPECTATIONS
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including two weeks during the summer and weekly department meetings
- Attend and participate in events outside of normal school hours (ex. family nights, student performances, field trips, family conferences, Back-to-School Nights, etc.).
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis, Monday - Friday
- Ability to operate computers, classroom technology, and computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, copiers, and cell phone functions such as text, email, etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work in an environment with an above-average level of noise
- Some nights and weekends, as required
