To help us drive excellence, as a 1st Shift Machine Repair Technician, you’ll get to:
Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
Repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots.
Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect and repair any malfunctions.
Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors, operators, or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
Understand and adhere to wiring standards as specified in NFPA 79 (NEC) code books and use “best practices” for wiring equipment.
Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Must complete required classes in accordance with designated General Repair II Program.
Understands, supports, and implements the company safety policies; Quality policy, housekeeping; and continuous improvement skills into daily work habits.
Understands and adheres to all safety guidelines as required by OSHA and specified in the L&W mechanical/electrical standard (BMES) document.
Participates in continuous improvement activities.
This full-time role is a part of our Tool Room and reports to Manufacturing Manager
Required education & experience:
High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to seven years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience
Journeyman’s card preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations
Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner
Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers
