Machine Shop Supervisor

Key Responsibilities
The Machine Shop Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring that production goals, quality standards, and customer deadlines are consistently met. Responsibilities include:
- Supervising and coordinating work activities for machine shop team members.
- Collaborating with other departments to meet customer deadlines.
- Driving production improvements by recommending and implementing enhanced methods, processes, and equipment performance strategies.
- Interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
- Analyzing and resolving work issues while mentoring team members.
- Managing timecards, production records, and PTO requests in the HRIS system.
- Ensuring shop efficiency by prioritizing tasks and maintaining shop floor quality control.
- Promoting and upholding a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
- Implementing and sustaining 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Maintaining and ordering shop equipment and supplies.
- Conducting root cause analysis for defects and driving corrective actions.
- Performing administrative tasks, including performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Participating in shaping the company’s direction and operational philosophy.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in CNC equipment operations and programming, preferably in aerospace manufacturing.
- Education: A two-year degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, blueprints, and understanding tooling and CNC machine setup.
- Hands-on experience with quality inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, solve problems proactively, and maintain quality standards.
