Job Summary
The CNC MACHINIST - PROGRAMMER @ Kaluma Technologies in Denville. The ideal candidate directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, integration, and completion of engineering projects in a contact manufacturing environment. The role leverages the candidate’s mechanical engineering experience and knowledge of machine tool assets, cutting tools, cam software, and manufacturing planning to create strategies for industrializing complex mechanical components and assemblies.
Responsibilities
Estimating – Prepares cost estimates for CNC machining, welding, additively manufactured components by studying blueprints/drawings and related customer documentation; consults with engineers, CNC Programmers and CNC Machinists, and other professional and technical personnel for manufacturing input.
Contract Review – Thoroughly reviews incoming purchase orders and contracts, captures customer requirements, and develops associated manufacturing plans/routers that flow those requirements to the shop floor.
Engineering Planning – Drives manufacturing path by selecting CNC machine tool and personnel best suited to each part/job by working closely with scheduling/operations to support commercial needs of business and its customers.
Tactical Programming / Engineering – creates and edits CNC programs, 3d models, placards, forms, routers, masking aids as needed to drive consistency and repeatability in manufacturing, mitigate risk and incorporate lessons learned.
Manufacturing Support – Supports everyday operations in a manufacturing and CNC machine shop environment. Works alongside CNC machinists and other personnel to industrialize, optimize and troubleshoot jobs on the floor. Shares accountability with shop to hitting projected completion dates.
Reporting – Communicates clearly to management and other stakeholders regarding engineering backlog, status, challenges, need for customer input etc.
Qualifications
Minimum of Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 2+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience – preferred
Minimum of (2-3) years of experience in a CNC machining environment
Proficiency in drawing, measuring, manipulating 3D models in Inventor or SolidWorks
Some experience with CAM software (e.g. Mastercam, SolidWorks)
Proficient in use of MS Office Suite, MS Excel and MS Outlook in particular
