    Job Brief

    Produce advanced machined parts by programming, setting-up, and operating multiple mill and/or lathe computer numerical control (CNC) machines per the Department of Defense and/or Aerospace Standards.


    Responsibilities

    • Produce parts according to work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, specifications, and machining parameters.
    • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) using a variety of tools and equipment.
    • Perform advanced set-ups on mills and/or lathe machines by making adjustments to the machine tool, tool holders, stock, guide tensions, operating speed, and lubricant flow to maintain machine setup.
    • Operate and observe multiple machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
    • Verify conformance of parts to specification using alternate measuring methods if necessary.
    • Maintain inspection documents, accurately log in and out of jobs, and claim part counts in computer system.
    • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
    • Maintain open communication among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
    • Work with engineering staff and assist coworkers in troubleshooting production issues.
    • Recommend and take action where appropriate to improve quality and efficiency of the machinery process.
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of ISO work instructions.


    Requirements

    • Specific technical or vocational training preferred, but not required.
    • 5+ yrs of machining experience required with no formal education/training received.
    • 5+ yrs of machine set-up experience required.
    • Computer programming and CAD/CAM experience required.
    • Advanced blueprint reading and granite plate measuring skills required.
    • Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
    • Good mechanical aptitude and math skills.
