MMJ delivers comprehensive accounting and bookkeeping services so business owners can make informed decisions for sustained growth.

    The ideal Staff Accountant candidate will perform a broad range of accounting tasks. Staff Accountants will work with multiple outsourced business office clients. Client service and engagements are performed at both the MMJ offices and on-site at client offices.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists in the coordination and accounting for outsourced business office engagements
    • Prepares internal and external financial statements and management reports for various clients
    • Prepares monthly and quarterly closes
    • Assists with preparing budgets/forecasts
    • Assists with preparing Dashboard Reports of key metrics for review
    • Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts such as cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable and accrued expenses
    • Develops and grows business relationships
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations
    • Same-day tri-state area travel is required. Must have a car and valid driver’s license

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university required.
    • CPA certification facilitates career growth.

    EXPERIENCE:

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Working knowledge of standard accounting software — QuickBooks, or similar programs

    • Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel a must

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Strong time management skills

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

    • Minimum of 2 years accounting experience

    • Flexibility; the ability to adapt to dynamic environments

    • Creativity; able to apply a solutions-focused approach to business/accounting issues and problem solving

    • Strong ethical behavior

    • Energy and a passion for excellence

    • CPA certification or CPA-track is desirable
