Providence Staffing’s client is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their warehouse in Phenix City, AL. The ideal candidate will be skilled in installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting by use of testing equipment and other measuring techniques.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand and power tools.
- Make adjustments to functional parts of equipment and control systems.
- Manage downtime by coordinating with production department personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
- Fabricate repair parts using shop equipment (welding equipment, cutting equipment, machine tools)
- Install and repair various types of piping
- Install, repair and adjust conveyors
- Lubricate chains, bearings, gearboxes, etc
- Rig, refurbish, and align equipment.
- Operate a forklift, manlift, scissor lift.
- General welding/fabrication.
- Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
- Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
- Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
- The Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting the plant’s overall safety objectives. They must demonstrate a safety-first value, leading by example, not just abiding by all current safety rules, but supporting an environment of continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties as directed
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years in role with demonstrated skill.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Mechanic license or equivalent work experience
- Welding certificate or equivalent work experience
- Forklift certified
- Provide own tools
- Able to complete CBT training and SCC.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Compensation :
The salary for this position is $34.40 per hour.
