  • Responsibilities

    Providence Staffing’s client is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their warehouse in Phenix City, AL. The ideal candidate will be skilled in installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Troubleshooting by use of testing equipment and other measuring techniques.
    • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand and power tools.
    • Make adjustments to functional parts of equipment and control systems.
    • Manage downtime by coordinating with production department personnel on routine preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
    • Fabricate repair parts using shop equipment (welding equipment, cutting equipment, machine tools)
    • Install and repair various types of piping
    • Install, repair and adjust conveyors
    • Lubricate chains, bearings, gearboxes, etc
    • Rig, refurbish, and align equipment.
    • Operate a forklift, manlift, scissor lift.
    • General welding/fabrication.
    • Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
    • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
    • Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
      • The Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting the plant’s overall safety objectives. They must demonstrate a safety-first value, leading by example, not just abiding by all current safety rules, but supporting an environment of continuous improvement.
      • Performs other duties as directed


      Required Qualifications:

      •  Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years in role with demonstrated skill.
      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
      • Mechanic license or equivalent work experience
      • Welding certificate or equivalent work experience
      • Forklift certified
      • Provide own tools
      • Able to complete CBT training and SCC.
      • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
      • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
      • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
      • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

       Compensation :

      The salary for this position is $34.40 per hour.
