    Job Description

    We are seeking a Maintenance Manager in Davenport, IA

    Objective: The Maintenance Manager leads the plant-wide maintenance and production support services, focusing on the Central Shops, including the Machine Shop, Truck Repair Shop, and Roll Shops. The role emphasizes achieving key objectives in Environmental and Health and Safety (EHS) and cost control while fostering a cooperative and high-performance environment.

    Responsibilities:

    Central Shops Management:

    • Machine Shop: Oversee machine repair and fabrication, ensuring effective support for both planned and unplanned maintenance and engineering activities. Set annual metrics for continuous improvement and ensure safe, cost-effective operations.
    • Truck Repair Shop: Manage maintenance for the plant's mobile equipment fleet, aiming for improved repair turnaround times, increased equipment longevity, and cost reductions. Hold vendors accountable and drive cost efficiency.
    • Roll Shops: Manage maintenance for active and spare rolls, focusing on improving turnaround times, quality control, and technology utilization. Enhance roll assembly processes and inspection standards.

    Cost Control:

    • Lead initiatives for MRO-SER and energy cost savings, contributing to the plant's annual financial objectives by achieving targeted spend reductions and managing department budgets.

    EHS Management:

    • Ensure the Central Maintenance and Engineering department meets EHS performance targets. Develop and implement strategies for long-term improvements in collaboration with the EHS Coordinator and other department managers.

    Team Leadership:

    • Supervise approximately 10 salaried resources and 100 hourly resources, including technicians, planners, and various skilled trades. Support the craft training team in developing and executing apprenticeship programs.

    Strategic Planning:

    • Develop and execute long-term and short-term goals aligned with the department's vision. Establish and monitor annual plans, objectives, and KPIs to meet plant and departmental goals.

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Build and maintain relationships with peers, Area Managers, and other departments. Present business proposals and performance updates to executive leadership and manage organizational change effectively.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine repair, maintenance management, and the manufacturing industry.
    • At least 3 years of experience as a department manager with direct supervision of salaried and hourly employees.
    • Proven experience managing multimillion-dollar department budgets and leading teams to improve KPIs.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the organization.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • 5 years of experience managing plant-wide budgets exceeding $50M annually with demonstrated cost reduction achievements.
    • Experience in leading contractual negotiations with manufacturing unions.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to develop logistics and planning initiatives.

  • Compensation
    $90,000-$90,000 per year
