    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for all aspects of both equipment and facility maintenance for Flat Glass Distributors. This includes troubleshooting, repair, some ordering of parts, preventative maintenance. This is very much a “hands-on position” with primary responsibility of diagnosing and repairing equipment. Electrical troubleshooting is a big plus, this is primarily a mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical motors focused position.

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities

    · Preventative maintenance:

    Conducting routine inspections and scheduled maintenance tasks on industrial machinery like conveyors, motors, pumps, and automated systems to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.

    · Troubleshooting and repair:

    Diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic malfunctions on industrial equipment by utilizing diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and electrical schematics.

    · Equipment installation and adjustments:

    Installing new machinery, aligning components, and calibrating equipment to optimal specifications.

    · Reading technical documentation:

    Interpreting blueprints, maintenance manuals, and work orders to understand equipment operation and repair procedures.

    · Parts replacement:

    Identifying and replacing worn or damaged components on industrial machinery.

    · Maintaining records:

    Documenting maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and work orders in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

    · Safety compliance:

    Following all safety procedures and regulations while working on industrial equipment.

    · Collaboration:

    Working with other maintenance technicians, production staff, and engineers to address equipment issues and optimize production processes.

    Required skills:

    Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of various industrial machinery and systems (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic)

    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and maintenance manuals

    Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment malfunctions

    Hand and power tool proficiency

    Basic computer skills for accessing maintenance software and documentation

    Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces

    Working Conditions

    A Maintenance Technician working at Flat Glass Distributors performs indoors in a large warehouse environment. There is regular exposure to flat glass, dirt, dust, noise, moving equipment, and other possible hazardous conditions.

    Hardhat, safety glasses and steel-toed boots are required. Cut resistant PPE if handling glass in the course of equipment or facility maintenance.

    Equipment Operated

    CNC machining centers, Glass cutting tables, hoists, automated insulated glass fabrication machine, tempering ovens for glass.
