    Wichita Collegiate School (WCS), a thriving Independent School located in Wichita, KS, is adding a Maintenance Technician to our Facilities team. Our facilities team is responsible for the operational readiness of our campus. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for inspecting buildings, maintaining inventory, and general maintenance of facilities.

    Wichita Collegiate School is a coeducational, college preparatory, independent day school for students in Early Childhood 2-year-olds through Grade 12. Located in East Wichita on a 42-acre campus, Wichita Collegiate is home to just under 900 students in four divisions. These divisions are named Early Childhood, Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School.

    Position Description

    The Facilities Team is responsible for all common areas and building maintenance across the 42-acre campus. A successful Maintenance Technician will have experience with a wide variety of trade skills, sharp problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for a dynamic, busy school environment. The facilities team supports campus activities and events, including morning traffic flow, sporting events, and major school events.

    The primary responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician include, but not be limited to, the following:

    • Check-in daily with school depts for any new or ongoing maintenance issues at their building.
    • Operate building controls for security and HVAC equipment per ongoing maintenance schedule and special requests.
    • Check the work order system periodically for immediate and future campus needs.
    • Manage campus-wide trash check, including dumping and checking trash receptacles.
    • Help with vendor management needs for access and escort.
    • Campus mail and deliveries.
    • Maintain grounds needs for sporting events etc.
    • Additional responsibilities that enhance the student experience as assigned.

    High school diploma and at least three years of work-related experience. A certificate in HVAC or Building Maintenance Technology or similar is preferred.

    Ideal candidates demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    • Experience with general maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment, and property structures.
    • Experience with maintaining commercial HVAC Systems.
    • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
    • Working knowledge of corrective maintenance practices.
    • Working knowledge of predetermined maintenance practices.
    • Working knowledge of condition-based maintenance practice.
    • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to organize and effectively plan work with little or no supervision.
