The Museum has an immediate opening for this full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. The Maintenance Technician assists in the facility’s maintenance and is responsible for monitoring, repairing, updating, and replacing components of the facility’s systems and structures, as well as taking care of the grounds and property, with assistance from outside vendors and contractors. The position requires practical skills and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, door hardware, electrical, and HVAC.
Work cooperatively with other Maintenance Technicians to ensure all facility systems work so that Museum can serve its mission of welcoming visitors safely and comfortably
Perform general maintenance, including building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry repairs and/or installation; light painting as necessary
Maintain supplies and tools in a safe, hazard-free work environment; keep all storage rooms and mechanical areas clean and organized
Follow established policies and procedures of the Museum
Work cooperatively with the Security department to ensure that equipment and projects are presented and completed properly each day; work cooperatively with the Custodial department to maintain a clean facility

Work is conducted inside and outdoors, at a crowded, public facility. Physical strength and stamina are required for climbing ladders, carrying equipment and materials, and lifting up to 50 pounds. This position supports the Museum through major weather activities, including hurricanes. This position also supports weekend events, as necessary, with attention to facility and grounds preparation.
A high school diploma is required, and a minimum of three years of experience performing general maintenance duties.
