As the Maitre D at Star Leaf's flagship US location in Pasadena, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining culinary excellence and upholding the esteemed reputation of our brand. You will have the unique opportunity to lead the culinary team, curate innovative Southeast Asian-inspired menus, and ensure a seamless kitchen operation.
The Role
The Maître d' is the face of our restaurant, ensuring that all guests receive the highest level of service from the moment they step through our doors. This role requires a professional with exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for hospitality.
Maitre D’ responsibilities include:
Greet upon arrival and interact with guests in a professional, warm, and courteous manner
Organize special request birthdays, specialty cakes, third-party pay forms, repeat guests, celebrity guests, and banquets.
Develop guest relationships and clientele through superior service and enhancing the guest experience
Use business savvy skills to maximize seating space and increase revenue based on seating all guests, walk-ins, and large parties.
“Touches” every seated table at some point in their service experience – meaning makes or attempts to make some sort of meaningful contact with a table (e.g. verbally ascertaining satisfaction, clearing an empty glass or plate, making friendly/ non-intrusive conversation).
Create sections for FOH staff members and able to identify proper times for cuts.
Following and enforcing policies, procedures, and service standards, safety and sanitation policies including emergency procedures.
Maintain the ambience of the restaurant - lighting, music, cleanliness, etc
Addresses and resolves customer concerns and complaints.
Observant to guests' needs throughout the dining experience to ensure they receive high-quality service
Navigate reservations platform (Open Table) and client database proficiently
Train, develop, and motivate all staff to uphold Starleaf's standards of excellence, with a special emphasis on the front door and reservations teams
Maitre D’ Requirements:
At least 2 years of relevant restaurant management experience and fluency in all applicable jurisdictional laws and regulations
Strong background in and passion for hospitality and deep knowledge of fine dining service standards
Candidates should be highly organized, efficient, and be able to work precisely
Must be capable, trustworthy, have integrity and excellent communication skills
Candidates should have an energetic, approachable positive disposition and ability to build relationships and motivate others
Candidates should demonstrate creativity and a commitment to the brand's success
Must have open availability and be able to work flexible hours
Physical requirements include but are not limited to the ability to handle and carry trays, smallware, equipment, or other items up to 50lbs, and to stand, walk up and downstairs, and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period
