WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We’re looking for a CONTROLLER to join our team. As the Controller, you will oversee Makai HR's financials, payroll taxes, ongoing proforma.

WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKE:
- Ensure timely (monthly) financial close and reporting, and accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP. Working Capital and cash position to be included
- Produce and manage Annual/Quarterly/Monthly Budget and variance reporting
- Prepare and submit PEO and HRO client state and federal payroll tax filings, ensuring payroll tax compliance. Reconcile the payroll data in PrismHr with Mastertax
- Manage and approve ACH transfers and troubleshoot any related issues
- Manage AP and associated banking activities and reconciliations
- Manage AR working to ensure limited exposure by clients to Insufficient Funds
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls
- Work with the Benefits Manager and the Risk Manager to conduct benefit and workers comp reconciliations
- Work with outside CPA firm in completing corporate tax filings
- SUTA management & strategy
- Manage relations with external accounting, tax, and consulting firms
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and perform other duties as needed
- Take ownership for other financial and analytical projects that may arise from time to time
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Experience in a Professional Employer Organization (required)
- Expertise with Prism HR and Master Tax software (a huge plus)
- A solid understanding of accounting and finance fundamentals, including but not limited to cash-flow forecasting, budgeting and business case model development
- Self-starter with a collaborative attitude and strong time management & problem-solving skills
- Professional skepticism to identify root causes of issues, and the tenacity to see such issues through to full resolution
- A team-oriented approach and an ability to enhance company culture
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
