General Description: Under the direct supervision of the Parrish Healthcare Center, Diagnostic Imaging Lead, performs radiographic procedures in both general radiology and mammography areas at Parrish Healthcare Center at Port St. John (PHC).
Key Responsibilities:
Provides all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology care based on established standards. DEMONSTRATES COMPETENCY in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served evidenced by: The ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; a knowledge of growth and development; and understanding of how to compensate technical factors to provide an optimal clinical image for interpretation. Provides patient breast care education and advanced breast imaging techniques, such as, needle localizations, stereotactic breast biopsy, magnification, cone compression, and implant studies.
Completes all activities to meet Quality Control requirements in compliance with ACR and MQSA guidelines (i.e. processor, screens, phantoms imaging, screen/cassette identification). Troubleshoots problems as they occur.
Maintains accurate records regarding QC, continuing education, patient information, and statistical data for MQSA inspection and ACR certification.
Ensures patient and personal radiation protection by ascertaining pregnancy status when indicated, using gonadal shielding when appropriate and practicing ALARA principles (time, distance, shielding) of dose reduction.
Ensures all diagnostic mammography patient orders meet medical necessity. Completes computer charging to reflect correct billing methods.
Communicates patient needs and/or pertinent assessment information to the radiologist (or other healthcare providers) as it pertains to the exam.
Cleans and stocks x-ray rooms as assigned. Cleans x-ray equipment and follows infection control guidelines for waste disposal. Reads posted department communications and attends staff meetings.
Performs PACS related duties as required by exam and department protocol.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertain to the work area.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
Associate's Degree, ADN or other Two Year College equivalent required.
Work experience:
1 year to < 2 years Mammography experienced preferred
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
Florida State DOH License
ARRT Registered RT(M)
BCLS form American Heart Association
