    Job Description

    The Manager of Business Development (Games & Digital Platforms) will play a pivotal role in the research guiding the UP&E gaming initiatives. This position involves developing and interpreting game industry research and analytics to inform business development priorities, tracking and disseminating market trends, and leveraging industry databases to frame research quantitatively. The role requires identifying and presenting new market opportunities, managing partner relationships from initial discussions to project kickoffs, and creating and maintaining pitch materials and partner tracking solutions.

    Salary range: $85,000 - $110,000 (bonus eligible)

    Responsibilities include:

    • Develop and interpret game industry research and analytics to educate and inform game team biz dev priorities

    • Mine, track, and disseminate game market trends related to genre popularity / frequency, sales, user acquisition, deal structures, platform and monetization strategies, and M&A activity

    • Utilize game industry databases such as Sensor Tower, App Annie, NPD to quantitatively frame research and analytics

    • Identify, scope, and present white space opportunities to the VP / UP&E team by leveraging market intelligence and internal / external historical comps

      • These strategies are intended to drive audience and revenue growth while expanding the reach of NBCU’s content across major platforms worldwide in alignment with overall brand strategy
      • Uncover latent potential game genres and niches
      • Create target lists of potential partners
      • Partner with the VP team to pitch and negotiate these opportunities
    • Own pitch materials and partner tracking solutions

    • Manage partners from initial discussions to internal project kickoff meetings; assist in agreement negotiation and work with legal to close agreements out

    • Present ongoing partner performance reports to UBD management. Tie reports to original forecasts & expectations, identify and drive value add opportunities, and anticipate issues and proactively elevate them

    • Become an equitable partner with:

      • UBD Finance on category budgeting and forecasting, revenue reporting, and revenue collection.
      • UBD Global Asset Management on the distribution of creative assets to partners and digital product approvals.
      • UBD Legal and Business Affairs on contract management.
      • Various teams across NBCUniversal, including Brand Marketing and Franchise Management, Digital Marketing, Digital Enterprises, DreamWorks Animation, and Peacock on new business and cross-marketing initiatives as appropriate
    • Make repetitive tasks more efficient / streamlined

    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • 4+ years of account / program management experience related to the games industry
    • Basic understanding of video games and/or the video game industry
    • Experience utilizing spreadsheets for data and financial analysis
    • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior management

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to align a diverse group of internal and external partners around key initiatives and strategic objectives
    • The ability to play through game builds and provide feedback
    • Familiarity with game industry databases such as Sensor Tower, App Annie, etc.
    • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and push back when necessary
    • Experience in the game production process
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
    • Exceptional curiosity and strong work ethic
    • Leadership ability with strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work well in a fluid, changing environment as creative challenges evolve
    • Results oriented
    • Be proactive in identifying issues / risks / blockers before they occur; have the ability to escalate issues as needed, implement solutions, and learn from mistakes

    ** Additional Requirements:**

    • Travel may be required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the needs of the team
    • Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
