Your Career
As the manager of the Network Scanning Team, you will:
Drive projects from requirements to to deployment, ensuring your team has the information and resources they need to execute smoothly
Guide the key technical work on the team, including shaping architectural decisions, communicating impact and requirements to stakeholders, and driving toward end-to-end value.
Create and improve software development processes, adapting them to suit the needs of your team and the needs of the organization
Hire and scale your team
Take ownership of product quality, usability, performance, and technical standards for your group
Lead efforts to align planned work across the application in collaboration with product management, UX design, and fellow engineering stakeholders
Utilize your big-picture perspective to spot existing and impending problems across teams, then work with leadership across the department to analyze and solve them
Proactively spot, articulate, and mitigate risks in ongoing and planned projects to ensure smooth execution and high output. This may include providing ad hoc mentorship, communicating with project stakeholders, or even rolling up your sleeves and stepping in to help move things along.

Qualifications
Your Experience
A strong candidate for this role will have most of the following:
Knowledge of distributed systems and architecture, including an understanding of what it takes to deploy and maintain such systems
Experience with on-prem deployment and the risks associated with shipping software to a customer environment
Good understanding of networking and cybersecurity fundamentals
Ability to manage complex technical projects from inception to completion, and a track record of delivering commitments to customers with high quality
Significant experience (2+ years) providing technical and/or managerial leadership within and across teams building enterprise features on a SaaS platform at scale
Ability to balance shipping new products and features with addressing technical debt and investments in architecture and infrastructure
Understanding of agile software development practices and how they pertain to all aspects of development
Past hands-on development experience and current ability to navigate codebases and understand change requests
BSc in computer science or related engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience

The Team
The Cortex Xpanse group is building an Exposure Management product to bring together the Palo Alto Networks proactive security product suite. As part of this effort, we are building a Network Scanner that our customers can use to find vulnerabilities in their deployments and services. We are looking for a software engineering manager to run this ambitious project.
In this role, you will guide the highly talented team of engineers building the brand new Network Scanner. You will oversee technical designs and drive critical decisions related to the architecture, deployment strategy, and capabilities of the Network Scanner. You’ll be in charge of building a productive work environment for your team, ensuring that staffing is balanced appropriately across team priorities, and advocating for projects that support the goals of our business. You will represent your team in roadmap planning and in discussions with customer-facing staff.
As you support and grow your team, you will also be a part of the team of leaders building Unified Vulnerability and Exposure Management. You will collaborate closely with other managers in the group and with other teams across the Cortex product suite. As part of this, you will help shape Palo Alto Networks vision of a proactive security platform. Your expertise will help secure the world's most important organizations and impact the future of the cybersecurity industry.
Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $165,000 - $267,500/YR.
