Role Summary
We seek a highly motivated Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis who will manage and oversee the financial planning and analysis function. The role requires a strong cross-functional collaborator with a solid record of contributions leading to improved financial performance and enhanced internal controls, responsibility for accruals, and forecast modeling. The role reports directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
General responsibilities
· Develop and implement FP&A best practices, procedures, and processes to drive best-in-class forecasting & planning, and business insight and analysis.
· Collaborate with the CEO to develop the financial forecast and strategy, ensuring long-term planning aligns with the company's strategic goals.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for accurate accrual calculations
· Prepare monthly accrual schedules and record accruals for the company’s various expenses
· Perform detailed reconciliation of accrual accounts
· Provide the CEO with accurate and timely financial and accrual reports to support financial sustainability
· Conduct data-intensive analysis and due diligence that provide the CEO with timely insights into trends and operational results.
· Under the direction of the CEO, review and administer vendor contracts following organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
· Continuously evaluate workflows and systems to strengthen financial discipline and implement cost-saving initiatives.
· Oversee accounts payable, ensure quantities invoiced match receiving reports, and maintain accounts payable files
FP&A Clinical Trial Responsibilities
· Develop, monitor, and manage budgets for clinical trials, including preparation of accruals and tracking expenses to ensure alignment with project timelines and goals.
· Support the monthly close process by calculating accruals and prepaid entries for clinical trials.
· Maintain detailed records of all clinical trial-related expenses
· Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports on clinical trials and provide insights to senior management
· Oversee financial aspects of contracts with CROs, vendors, and other external partners, ensuring timely and accurate payment needs
· Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, guidelines, and company policies throughout the clinical trial process
· Assist in audits by providing financial documentation and explanations related to clinical trial expenses
· Identify opportunities for improving financial processes related to clinical trials and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
· Work closely with clinical operations to ensure seamless coordination and communication regarding financial matters of clinical trials
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field. Master’s or MBA preferred
· 5+ years of experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance and Accounting
· Experience using Prendio and Expensify preferred
· Expertise in financial accruals, forecasting, and analysis in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry preferred
· Experience in late-stage and early-stage financial modeling and reporting
· Highly analytical and can easily transition between planning and completing hands-on tasks
· Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and be motivated by the challenge of a fast-paced environment
· Experience in driving continuous improvement within the financial planning analysis function
· Outstanding written, oral, and presentation skills and can communicate complex financial matters to executive audiences
· Expert Excel skills; extensive experience analyzing large data sets
· Location: Residence within commuting distance of our Boston MA or Gaithersburg MD offices is highly preferred. Remote, United States is a possibility
