    Job Description

    Position Overview:

    The Manager of Mental Health Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for KIPP Kansas City's mental health and wellness programs. This role involves the management of a team of mental health professionals, including nurses and health aides, ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services to all students. The Manager will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that promote the emotional and psychological well-being of students, aligning with KIPP Kansas City’s mission and values.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Program Development and Implementation
    * Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive mental health services, including preventative, intervention, and responsive support programs for students across all schools.
    * Develop and coordinate programs for social-emotional learning (SEL), trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, and wellness initiatives in collaboration with school leadership.
    * Ensure that all mental health services are culturally competent, equitable, and accessible to meet the diverse needs of KIPP Kansas City’s student population.
    * Oversee the implementation of mental health screening and assessment tools, coordinating with school teams to identify and support students in need of intervention.
    
    • Crisis Response and Intervention
    * Develop and implement crisis intervention protocols, ensuring staff are equipped to respond effectively to emergencies and provide immediate support to students in crisis.
    * Serve as a primary point of contact during mental health crises, coordinating with families, school staff, and external agencies to support affected students.
    * Maintain protocols for confidentiality and ethical practices in mental health services, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
    
    • Data and Compliance
    * Collect and analyze data on student mental health needs and service utilization, providing regular reports to senior leadership to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
    * Ensure all mental health services comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, FERPA, and other relevant guidelines.
    * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and data security standards.
    
    • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
    * Partner with school leaders, teachers, and family liaisons to enhance awareness and support for mental health services, creating a positive school climate that supports wellness.
    * Provide workshops and resources for families to enhance their capacity to support their children’s mental health and well-being at home.
    * Collaborate with community-based organizations to connect students and families to external mental health resources and services as needed.
    
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, ideally in a school-based or youth-oriented setting.
    • Valid licensure in mental health preferred (e.g., LCSW, LPCC, LMFT).

    • Knowledge of relevant mental health laws, privacy regulations, and best practices in school-based mental health services

    Work Environment

    • Reports to work Monday-Friday and some weekends.
    • A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to work location.
