Our firm has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing privately held businesses in the U.S. by Inc. 5000 and we are seeking a full-time Managing Attorney to help lead our growing team. We are seeking someone to help guide our team and lead the legal strategy for clients, while maintaining the highest standards in criminal defense. We are not looking for a candidate with a specific number of cases, years of experience, or trials; but rather, diverse professional experience inclusive of courtroom and leadership skills that will help cultivate a strong legal team and deliver positive results for clients. Someone who has tried cases to verdict but has also prepared cases so well that opposing counsel was afraid to go up against them. A candidate who can strategize. An independent and forward thinker. Responsibilities: • Manage the legal team including attorneys and support staff • Ensure that the legal team is hitting their KPI’s • Lead monthly case management meetings with the legal team • Conduct weekly case staff meetings and office hours with attorneys • Strategize with attorneys on case work up • Assist with the direction and assignments of the in-house Investigator • Facilitate in-house training sessions • Approve written blogs for publication • Approve written motions for filing • Record videos on legal topics • Send out case law updates • Assist associate attorneys with substantive hearing and trial prep • Oversee office Mock Trials • Effectively manage personal caseload • Provide feedback and quarterly reviews WHO ARE YOU? • A fast mover who can push projects through the pipeline and keep them on schedule • A terrifyingly organized and overly prepared individual with a color-coded calendar system • A tech-savvy multi-tasker with high attention to detail and accuracy • A goal setter and target hitter • An error and issue-spotting wizard • An excellent legal researcher and writer • A quick thinker and creative brainstormer • A person who is not afraid to hold others accountable • A confident and experienced advocate who is likable and not camera-shy Qualifications: SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • You must possess a J.D. and be in good standing with the State Bar of CA • You have to know how to lead a team, contribute positively to the company culture, and drive results without drama • You must know how to leverage technology in the workplace and catch on to new platforms quickly. You will not enjoy this role if you are not tech-savvy. You must also be comfortable with Macs – we do not use PCs • You must have trial and courtroom experience. You must be a strategic thinker – the type of person who issues spots and roadmaps scenarios. You flowchart possible outcomes and you help attorneys see things they may not have thought of on their own • You love the law. You like reading it and keeping up to date on it so you can keep others up to date on changes and help them craft and finesse their arguments as they prepare • You must be prepared to answer questions and think on your feet but also know when to push people to look for answers on their own and come back to you with solutions Compensation: $170,000 - $200,000 yearly
