Job Summary: As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for the setup and operation of manual machining equipment to produce precision aerospace components. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in manual machining, particularly within the aerospace industry. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce aerospace components according to engineering specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of manual machining equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Conduct quality inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve any issues related to machining processes, tooling, or part quality.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of machining operations, including production logs, inspection records, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Assist with other manufacturing tasks and projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a manual machinist, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating manual machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and machining techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
Education:
