  • Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of various machining equipment and operations, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet critical tolerances. This position requires working with minimal supervision and the flexibility to accommodate customer needs, including overtime, holidays, and weekends.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform complex setups and machining tasks, including turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, grinding, and more.
    • Select tooling and equipment required for machining of parts to precise specifications.
    • Ensure safety and quality standards are met during all machining operations.
    • Operate and maintain various machine equipment, such as horizontal and vertical lathes, boring mills, grinders, and drill presses.
    • Utilize advanced measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, indicators) to ensure parts meet critical tolerances.
    • Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and work scopes to determine machining requirements.
    • Reverse engineer components and create or manufacture necessary parts.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and notify appropriate personnel for troubleshooting and repairs.
    • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs between shifts.
    • Evaluate experimental procedures for improvements and efficiencies in setup and production processes.
    • Complete production and quality logs to track progress and outcomes.
    • Stay updated on industry knowledge through educational materials, training, and technical publications.

    Qualifications & Skills

    Required:

    • 5+ years of experience in manual machining (2nd Class Machinist). Candidates with 3 years of experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Strong experience with horizontal and vertical lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine tools.
    • Proficiency in using advanced measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
    • Ability to work to precise tolerances and perform critical measurements.
    • Willingness to work 2nd shift and additional hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays based on customer needs.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery.
    • Ability to reverse engineer components and create detailed drawings or parts.

    Salary info:

    $33 - $38 / hr
