    Title: Manufacturing Engineer

    Our client, a full-service plastic injection molding contract manufacturer and FDA-certified medical device manufacturer, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at its established manufacturing site outside of Erie, Pennsylvania.

    Position Overview

    Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer optimizes and improves production processes in plastic injection molding, ensuring efficiency and quality. This role involves project management, vendor coordination, cost estimation, process validation, and equipment design while maintaining safety and productivity standards.

    Responsibilities and Functions:

    • Develops, evaluates, and improves secondary operations methods.
    • Assists in preparing quotes for secondary operations.
    • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
    • Develop packaging for products.
    • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
    • Manage projects within budget and maintain delivery dates.
    • Supports production requirements as needed.
    • Police use of safety devices and equipment and general housekeeping; maintains alert for hazardous conditions and practices.
    • Design, build, and maintain various pieces of secondary operations equipment.
    • Develop process verification and/or validation for the assembly and inspection of non-medical and medical products.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong ability to read and interpret technical journals, corporate procedures, and product specifications.
    • Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
    • Proficiency in statistical analysis, geometry, percentages, and ratios for problem-solving and decision-making.
    • Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, and interpret complex technical instructions.
    • Proficient in computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
    • Knowledge of PLCs, basic wiring, and machining.
    • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, programming, fixturing, and production-related issues.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, and sit. Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, tools, and equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
