  • Responsibilities

    Duties/Responsibilities:

     

    • Propose & use technology to improve, streamline, and automate manufacturing by improving efficiency of the manufacturing process(es) to increase productivity while maintaining or improving quality.

    • Development and implementation of manufacturing cells for part handling, assembly, testing, and any other secondary finishing operations for injection molded products.

    • Programming of PLCs, 6 Axis Industrial Robots, Cartesian robots, and Collaborative robots to support the production, automation, and finishing of parts.

    • Development and build or procurement of assembly equipment/tools and part performance testing equipment necessary to ensure customer requirements are met.

    • Design Mechanical and Electrical systems to automate production and testing of Injected molded parts and assemblies using 3D CAD.

    • Work with and provide guidance to Manufacturing and the Automation Lab to provide assembly of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems for all necessary components used to create automation systems and interface with various models of robots and production machines.

    • Initiates and implements continuous improvement projects geared toward reducing reduction in labor and manufacturing costs, reducing dependence on labor (operators), and increasing production levels. Identifies, justifies, and implements new equipment and automation technologies to improve profitability.

    • Interface with the department managers to support daily and weekly production requirements.

    • Troubleshoots and resolves product and production issues, including quality issues related to secondary processes, as they arise.

    • Provide input into new product quotes where EOAT, or automation of secondary processing and/or assembly & test operations are required.

    • Development and implementation of product work instructions, workflow analysis, training procedures; reviewing and writing manufacturing related procedures as needed.

    • Design, procurement and construction of fixtures and tools necessary to produce customers’ products.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Education:

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline is preferred. MET & EET education with significant experience will be considered as an alternative.

     

    Knowledge:

    • 3D CAD Experience (SolidWorks preferred)

    • Knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies, work cell organization and layouts, assembly procedures methods, tools, and fixtures to enhance the manufacturing and assembly of products.

    • Must have excellent computer skills and be conversant with Microsoft suite of products (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

    • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing (working human relations skills).

    • Must have a strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes (plastics manufacturing preferred), robotics, and various forms of automation.
