Manufacturing Engineer (Newark, NJ)

They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to significantly impact their manufacturing processes. Make Your Mark – Key Responsibilities:
- Lead projects focused on process simplification, tooling enhancements, throughput improvement, scrap reduction, and equipment reliability.
- Collaborate across departments to investigate and resolve quality issues using methodologies like 8D, Kaizen, DMAIC, and root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain crucial production documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Work directly with production, toolroom, and maintenance teams to identify and solve manufacturing challenges.
- Provide technical guidance for automation systems, including design and troubleshooting.
- Design and implement tools, fixtures, and equipment to boost efficiency, reduce errors, and improve ergonomics.
- Develop lean cell layouts and workflows to optimize production flow.
- Stay current with manufacturing technology through continuous learning and industry events.
- Participate in the PPAP process, including design reviews and FMEAs.
- Analyze financial data to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
What Our Client Requires:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5-10 years minimum experience in a medium/high volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and mechanical aptitude.
- Solid understanding of Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Hands-on comfort with mechanical and electrical components.
- Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks strongly preferred).
- GD&T experience preferred.
- Experience with automation design/programming or vision systems a plus.
- A driven self-starter who works effectively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and set priorities, working effectively across all departments.
- Proficiency with Windows-based PC skills (Microsoft Office).
- Familiarity with time studies.
- ISO/QS knowledge a plus.
- Plastic Injection/Insert Molding and/or Progressive Stamping Experience a plus.
