Manufacturing Leader
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Leader will be responsible for establishing and scaling the production processes, workflows, and systems for a fast-growing start-up environment. The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset to develop efficient manufacturing operations, optimize subassembly processes, and work closely with front-line workers and management teams to ensure seamless product integration and delivery.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Trains and manages the daily performance of staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish Manufacturing Processes & Workflows: Develop and implement standardized manufacturing processes, work instructions, and workflows for subassembly and assembly lines, ensuring smooth operations as the business scales.
- Process Optimization: Continuously identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes, optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, lead, and mentor a small team of assembly operators and technicians, providing training, guidance, and performance management to foster a high-performing, collaborative culture.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product design, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability of products and alignment of manufacturing processes with product development goals.
- Scale Operations: Design scalable systems and processes to accommodate future growth, including optimizing equipment, staffing, and resource allocation for increased production demands.
- Quality & Safety Management: Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols in all aspects of the manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting production issues, diagnosing root causes, and developing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Implement Lean & Continuous Improvement: Introduce and promote lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and cost-effective production practices.
- Inventory Management: Work with the supply chain team to maintain accurate inventory levels, minimize waste, and ensure a smooth flow of materials to meet production schedules.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, throughput, quality, and safety, and utilize data to inform operational decisions and improvements.
- Process Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for manufacturing processes, safety standards, and assembly procedures to ensure consistency and compliance as the company grows.
- Set Up Systems for Future Expansion: Lay the groundwork for future expansion by creating scalable infrastructure and systems for manufacturing as the company prepares for larger production volumes.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate, trouble-shoot, set-up, and maintain company cameras, equipment, and associated software.
- Basic understanding of electronic and solar powered equipment.
- Proficient in computer software, including Microsoft suite.
- Demonstrated ability to maneuver a trailer.
- Must maintain active driver's license.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or the equivalent work experience required.
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing and subassembly, with at least 4+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse the various sites.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Maintain DOT license.
