Manufacturing Operations Superintendent
Location: Defiance, Ohio
A well-established manufacturing facility is seeking a Plant Superintendent to lead operations in a large-scale production environment. This role is critical in driving safety, quality, production efficiency, and continuous improvement within a unionized facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of plant operations, ensuring safety compliance, production goals, and quality standards are met.
- Lead and develop a team of hourly and salaried employees across multiple production lines.
- Manage budgeting, strategic planning, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize equipment reliability and process improvements.
- Ensure adherence to environmental and workplace safety regulations.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve operational challenges and maintain compliance with union agreements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar) or Business Management with technical proficiency.
- Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing large teams (150+ employees) and multiple production lines.
- Strong background in cost control, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in unionized environments, with an understanding of labor relations and grievance procedures.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in batching, glass melting, ovens, and furnace operations.
- Previous roles in process engineering, supervision, and plant leadership.
- Experience coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams on large-scale production systems.
