Emerge, a global talent solutions company, is recruiting for a Foundry Casting Process Engineer position in Hampton, VA, with an aerospace manufacturer known for innovation. This is a direct-hire opportunity to play a critical role in optimizing investment casting processes.
As a Casting Process Engineer, you will ensure compliance with process specifications, oversee metallurgical characteristics, and engineer high-yield, cost-effective products that meet customer quality standards. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, hands-on engagement, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and stabilize key manufacturing processes (e.g., knock-out, cutting, grinding, cleaning).
- Drive process improvements using structured monitoring, best practices, and new technologies.
- Lead and report on monthly process reviews.
- Resolve issues identified through audits and ensure process integrity.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to meet technical requirements and resolve issues.
- Identify root causes for deviations in process specifications and support post-cast issue resolution.
- Champion continuous improvement through Six Sigma, statistical process control, and design experiments.
- Provide technical guidance on post-cast processes and adapt new technologies.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including EHS standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related engineering field.
- 3+ years of experience in a casting, foundry industry is preferred.
- Leadership experience is a plus and may result in a higher salary.
- Proficiency with engineering concepts, standard work principles, and tools like Mini-Tab.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks and/or ProCAST preferred).
- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be able to work in a heavy manufacturing environment.
