Job Summary: The Manufacturing Technician will assist in daily reagent manufacturing activities, including operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment. This role also ensures compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, direct experience with reagent manufacturing, experience with chemical and biological materials, technical knowledge of reagent manufacturing equipment, experience in ISO 13485 compliant processes, experience with materials management, and the ability to follow procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Work Order Preparation: Prepare materials and records for production, verifying the identity and quality of materials used for manufacturing.
Reagent Filling: Perform manual and semi-automated operations for labeling, pipetting, and capping/sealing across tubes, bottles, and other containers for extended periods of time.
Assembly: Perform manual and semi-automated assembly operations for extended periods of time.
Documentation: Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions. Maintain detailed and organized manufacturing records, including logs, and batch records per GDP guidelines.
Safety Compliance: Work safely with chemicals. Follow strict safety protocols to handle hazardous materials and ensure safety standards are met.
Inventory Management: Monitor and order manufacturing materials when needed.
Collaboration: Work closely with other manufacturing staff, technical support, and management to ensure smooth operations.
Other Responsibilities: Support material handling activities as well as other duties determined by management. Performs more advanced tasks such as product testing, data analysis, and identifying inefficiencies in processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma with minimum of 5 years of experience manufacturing life sciences or molecular diagnostics reagents or
Associates degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience manufacturing life sciences or molecular diagnostics reagents.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of reagent manufacturing techniques, tools, and procedures including manual pipetting, repeater pipetting, mixing, and weighing.
Experience with chemical and biological material handling and safety practices.
Proficient with volumetric and gravimetric measurements.
Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and file management.
Experience operating complex equipment, including filling automation, is a plus.
Experience with product testing, data analysis, or process improvements is a plus.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in following written protocols, recording results, and performing repetitive tasks accurately.
Organizational Skills: Strong time management in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for reporting and documenting production activities.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to work independently and mentor junior technicians.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and handle laboratory equipment and supplies (up to 50 pounds).
Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Manual dexterity and ability to work with small tools and parts.
