Job Description

The Marc Jacobs Sample Room/Runway Production team is looking for an intern to assist with the following duties:

• Assisting the Development Coordinator during Development.  Interns will receive hands on experience with all the sewers/cutters/patternmakers – daily tasks can be tracing patterns, dying zippers/snaps/buttons, making sure all sewers have the proper trims to complete samples, organizing trim packages to be sent to mid-town.  Organizing the thread library and maintaining the thread chart for all sampling.  (** Pls note all tasks vary per season.)
• Assisting the Production Department with the seasons during Production.  Working with the Fabric/Trim Buyer with daily tasks including: ordering raw materials, double checking purchase orders, tracking shipments, copying/filing, etc. Organizing the trim and fabric area, assisting the fabric receiver/shipper with inventory of all sample yardage.
• Assisting the Production Manager. Our Production Manager will need assistance with cleaning garments to be ready to ship, light specing, transferring samples/patterns/trims/fabrics from each factory.  Ultimately, interns assisting the Production Manager will act as a “liaison” between the Production Office and our factories.
• Help assist Patternmakers, Sample Makers, Cutters and designers to ensure all garments are made with the highest quality
• Work between Design and Production to help develop all the new runway garments

Qualifications

Additional Info/Requirements:

Recent graduate available for immediate start

4 month, full-time internship

$15/hour

Knowledge of  hand sewing and pattern making

Organized and detailed oriented
