    Fiber Materials Inc. | engineered textile products for aerospace and defense

    FMI's Rhode Island facility is focused on textile engineering and manufacturing of 2D woven fabrics, 3D woven preforms, braided materials and resin transfer molded composites. We work with the stiffest, strongest, and lightest fiber in the world including carbon, glass, aramid (kevlar) and ceramic.

    Our products are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as NASA's Mars Sample Return mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for US military ground vehicles.


    ** Your role: FMI's Rhode Island facility **is seeking a Material Handler for our 2D Weaving team who are safety and goal-oriented team player that will help support our manufacturing team. The schedule for the Material Handler is Mon – Fri, from 7:00am – 3:30pm.

    ** Job Responsibilities:**

    • Prepares finished product for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, loading, and securing product
    • Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies
    • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages
    • Documents and requests product delivery per customer requirements
    • Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items
    • Support the 2D Weaving manufacturing setup and doffing operations
    • Recording of process data of manufacturing records for processes, parts and materials
    • Ensure safety and housekeeping policies/procedures are followed
    • Adheres to the Quality System
    • Supports Continuous Improvement Program

    ** What we need from you:**

    • 2 Year College Degree or equivalent experience in related field (Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Engineering)
    • 5+ years’ experience operating a forklift
    • Understanding of supply chain concepts (PO’s, shop floor travelers)
    • Ability to lift items and containers
    • Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Basic Excel understanding
    • Basic packaging skills

    ** Preferred:**

    • Some data entry experience
    • Textile manufacturing experience/exposure
