Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the material handler/stocker is responsible for assisting in maintaining the needed supplies for the hospital and extended departments. They will aid in End of Year inventory and monthly physical counts. The material handler/stocker is responsible for all of the departments daily stocking and making sure items are expensed/transferred from Central inventory. They will assist in the receiving and placement of incoming supplies when delivered. Accuracy is essential in this position.
Essential Job Functions
Pulling and delivering supply orders from requisitions- accuracy is a must
Placing received orders into inventory – packing slips are required, if there is not one then one needs to be made using the available forms
Stocks areas of the hospital daily
Maintains current inventory levels and adjusting as needed
Removes outdated or potentially damaged goods from facility use – expired dates will be checked monthly
Cycle counts will be performed monthly on Central inventory and OR inventory – it is imperative that the counting be done correctly and efficiently – if there are items incorrectly counted or skipped during this process, the entire process will be redone
Files paperwork in appropriate folders and distributes to the proper place – every packing slip is to be scanned into CPSI and received in a timely manner
Handles all products with proper care and safety requirements of the product
Maintains the cleanliness and order of the Central Supply storeroom as well as other storage areas – there are to be no empty boxes left on shelves; no boxes sitting on floor
Assisting in end of month and end of year inventory
Other duties as assigned – this does include assisting in other departments if help is needed
Qualifications/Requirements
High school diploma or GED
1 year related experience and/or training
Clean driving record
Operational knowledge of computers
Works successfully in a cross-functional team environment
Practical problem solving skills
Dependable attendance
Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Able to prioritize multiple tasks
Strong organizational skills
Physical Abilities
Extended periods of walking, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping & stretching
Able to lift 40 pounds from ground level without assistance
Pushing/Pulling loaded carts
