Position Overview:
****The Materials Buyer/Plant Scheduler is a full-time, on-site role that is responsible for ordering and managing materials needed for the organization's operations. This includes maintaining inventory levels, reporting on quality, and setting the production schedule. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a strategic mindset.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Procurement:
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality and delivery time and communicate back to the corporate team.
- Close collaboration with Corporate Procurement team on dual sourced materials to ensure proper management of contracts
- Place purchase orders in collaboration from Corporate Planning and track/manage deliveries according to the initial PO timing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials and resolve any supply issues.
- Continuously update POs with accurate date and quantity details to aid in proper inventory availability reporting.
- Inventory Management:
- Continuously monitor, track, and report material usage, availability, and storage.
- Monitor stock levels and lead times.
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Relationship Building:
- Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality control) to understand material requirements.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards.
- Address any quality issues promptly with suppliers and internal quality team.
- Logistics Management
- Assistance in management of inbound logistics for purchased materials.
- Escalation for late loads and manage hot loads and necessary items to support production.
- Manual creation of small shipments in Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier performance.
- Generate reports on procurement activities, as lead times, price changes, vendor contact information and provide timely to Corporate Planning for master data updates.
- Scheduling and Production Planning
- Collaborate with Corporate Planning to understand monthly needs.
- Interface with internal plant team (operations, quality, etc.) to create an efficient production schedule based on needs communicated by Corporate Planning and sequencing requirements from quality.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of materials management, shipping processes, and distribution best practices. Customer service knowledge/experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, providing excellent service to internal and external partners.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 to 5 years experience in buying fast moving raw materials, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with supply chain management software and tools; experience using NetSuite is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure.

Work Environment:
Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.
- Significant amount of time working at a computer station
- Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor and warehouse.
- Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
- Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
Physical demands:
- Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
- Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
