    Job Description Title: | MATERIALS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN Department(s): | Lab Reports to: | Operations Manager

    Status: Full-Time, Hourly Employee –on-site position.

    Shift: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    Job Summary:

    The Technician performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory and clean room environment. Records observations and measurements and reports the results to the Scientists and Engineers. The Technician is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of laboratory and thin film deposition equipment. Has knowledge of commonly used tools, concepts, practices, and procedures in a laboratory and clean room environment. Works under immediate supervision, and reports to Operations Manager.

    This role requires the successful candidate to be subject to ITAR restrictions and regulations including a US Citizenship requirement. The applicant must also be able to obtain and maintain an interim and final government security clearance including meeting the requirements of a drug-free workplace. The security clearance process requires applicants to complete a standard security questionnaire and undergo a thorough background investigation for adjudication.

    PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Record observations & measurements.

    · Daily operation and maintenance of laboratory and thin film deposition equipment in a cleanroom environment

    · Loading, unloading, and cleaning vacuum coater deposition machines.

    · Must be able to lift 30 lbs over your head.

    · Run and monitor a vacuum deposition process for its duration. Note aberrations in the process and make approved adjustments. Consult with the Engineer or Scientist in charge of the deposition.

    · Support Project Engineers performing inspections of products.

    · Other duties as assigned by Technical or Operations staff.

    · High attention to detail required to review documentation, with the ability to effectively articulate findings and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be part of a cohesive team with common goals and should possess a willingness and interest to learn about aerospace materials.

    EDUCATION / PRIOR EXPERIENCE

    · Associate degree or a minimum of two years of experience in a related engineering environment.

    · Familiarity with Microsoft (MS) Windows operating system and MS Office products.

    · Experience in working with aerospace, automotive or medical-grade materials is a plus.

    · Prior experience involving understanding of Aerospace Materials Specifications (AMS), ASTM, AS, MIL, NAS specifications is a plus.

    · Prior experience with vacuum deposition equipment processes and troubleshooting is a plus.
