Title: Materials Manager
Shift: 1st shift
Pay: $80,0000 - $90,000+ depending on experience
Materials Manager Role:
Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-quality rotationally molded products. As they continue to expand, they are seeking an experienced Materials Manager to be responsible for the Purchasing function across the company (including U.S. and Canadian locations). The Materials Manager will work closely with manufacturing, sales support, production scheduling and engineering in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.
Materials Manager Responsibilities:
- Apply procurement strategies, create and implement new strategies that enhance competitive advantage for the company and its customers
- Provide risk and cost management in the development and maintenance of strategic supplier relationships.
- Manager supplier base to ensure an appropriate supply of materials and related items are available to meet current and future production requirements.
- Follow up with supplier deliveries to expedite or "push out" deliveries as required.
- Develop and implement cost savings and reduction plans.
- Recommend and utilize continuous improvement and standardization processes and systems including Kanban, EOQ and ABC inventory analysis for optimal production efficiency.
- Ensure major commodities are reviewed at least annually to ensure all elements to the "buy" decision are competitive.
- Blanket orders and contractual agreements must be in place to facilitate the purchasing of frequently used commodities by non-purchasing personnel against pre-negotiated pricing, terms and conditions.
- Manage employees with respect and fair handedness. Review their performance with them regularly. Constantly reinforce the need to be diligent with regard to safety and to always be accountable for their performance and actions.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years' experience of purchasing/materials management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain management.
- Ability to maintain a professional relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software suite.
- Team player with a sharp focus on customer service and satisfaction.
- Ability to successful work both collaboratively and autonomously
- 'Ownership' taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success.
- Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business and translate them into operational requirements.
- Strong negotiation skills.
