Materials Manager – Manchester, TN
Responsibilities:
- Determines and/or assists in schedules required to produce customer products within negotiated timelines using computerized system.
- Plans requirements necessary for materials; capacities for machines and labor-hours to meet production schedule.
- Generates production schedules based on customer needs and on-hand inventories.
- Reconciles on-hand inventories with manufacturing/distribution inventories to reduce errors.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and levels for components, raw materials and purchased parts through cycle counting and regular system maintenance.
- Responsible to maintain accurate inventory storage locations and control with-in the facility.
- Responsible to maintain acceptable inventory levels (turns).
- Provides leadership for local purchasing activities.
- Manages all aspects of Suppliers (MRO & Production materials).
- Monitors and ensures all customer demands and ratings are met.
- Reviews routings & BOM’s of each component/product, part and inventory planning data.
- Manages all aspects of Customer Service, Shipping and Receiving.
- Maintains an accurate database of customers’ required documents.
- Ensures the accuracy of on-time deliveries, shipping quantities and tagging/labeling.
- Ensures accurate, timely electronic communication through ASN’s, DDL, SMART, and Bar Coding.
- Participates and assists in the implementation of Continuous Improvement and TS 16949.
- Produces daily, weekly, monthly reports re: inventory, supplier ratings, delivery ratings, etc.
- Attends Production and Engineering meetings on a regular basis.
- Provides training to new employees within department.
- Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues in timely manner. Seeks advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.
- Maintains a log of all premium freight charges, late/early or over/under receipts and reports on same monthly.
- Conducts Layered Process Audits as required
Qualifications
- More than 5 recent and solid years of experience working in Production/Inventory Control in a welding, and/or machining and/or metal stamping discipline in the automotive industry.
- Will have experience working with German OEM’s – preferably BMW and/or Volkswagen. Experience working with Asian OEM’s also preferred.
- Overseeing team sizes of 30-50 people salary and hourly
- Strong MS Excel experience – VLOOKUPS, Macros, Pivot Tables, et.
- Must have experience using SAP
- Ability and willingness to work as an “Acting Manager” and be hands on
- Experience working in a large plant or facility 120,000 sqft.
- Effective knowledge of MRP & ERP material systems
- TS 16949 and ISO14001 criteria
- Reviewing costs associated with materials and manufacturing
- Uses strong interpersonal skills to lead, coach, motivate, negotiate and build relationships
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Effective use of problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively deal with conflict when necessary
