    ABOUT MAVERICK:

We provide credit card processing, ACH/Check processing, processing equipment and software, fraud prevention and other merchant services.

    The Underwriting & Risk Manager will be responsible for overseeing underwriting and risk tasks on a day to day basis. This role reports to the company's Director of Underwriting & Risk. This includes 8+ employees within both underwriting and risk teams as well as reviewing supporting documentation and application files, reviewing processing activity analyzed by risk analysts, performing enhanced due diligence on high-risk clients, and more. Working with larger agents/ISOs and our acquiring sponsor banks, this is a key role in the company. Organization, thorough examination of applications and merchant data, and completeness of work is essential to success.

    SKILLS NEEDED:

    • 6-8+ years of underwriting and risk experience in payment processing including high-risk

    • Attention to detail

    • Works well in a fast paced environment while staying precise in daily activities

    • Must be able to communicate with our partners in a respectful and concise way

    • Exudes respect and positivity in all interactions both inside and outside of the organization

    • Superior Organizational Skills

    • Able to work across all departments with ease but still work independently

    • Efficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel

    • Able to navigate multiple system interfaces to key application information in a timely manner

    • Will need to attain a thorough understanding of the company’s Underwriting & Risk Policy

    • Has a understanding of the credit card processing industry including compliance and regulatory requirements

    • Shows initiative and is willing to get the job done no matter the challenges that may arise

    • Arrives to work on-time ready to do the work needed to be done

    • Goes above and beyond to achieve more than the status quo

    •Out of the box thinker willing to contribute ideas for process improvement when it comes to Underwriting.

    •Compliance knowledge with financial institutions, card associations, etc.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • High school education or equivalent; College degree preferred

    • 6+ years of experience in underwriting and/or risk, specifically merchant services & payment processing

    • Must be familiar with TSYS and/or First Data platforms plus 3rd party tools used for underwriting and due diligence (Equifax, TINCheck, MATCH, G2, GIACT, etc.)

    • Must know of Visa and MasterCard rules and regulations. Additionally, able to review financial documents (tax returns, bank statements, P&L, Balance Sheet, etc.) and understanding of industry-standard supporting documentation.
