  • Responsibilities
    1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
    2. Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging) of the patient population and understands the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care of the specific age group(s).
    3. Completes annual training specific to age needs of patient population served.
    4. Demonstrates age-specific care.
    5. Possesses communication skill necessary to interpret age-specific responses.
    6. Possesses ability to involve family/significant other in decisions.
    7. Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control.
    8. Performs with precision and accuracy analysis using appropriate procedures including appropriate quality control.
    9. Operates instruments and equipment accurately using established protocol and quality control checks, evaluating instrument function and quality control when necessary.
    10. Completes all analysis within established deadlines 95 percent of the time, considering known specimen status, STAT, timed, routine, etc.
    11. Evaluate validity of results. Record and report results.
    12. Recognizes abnormal/unusual results not compatible with delta checks and consistently follows lab procedures for reporting the results including documenting in computer action taken.
    13. Evaluates the results obtained from patient and quality control samples to assure validity before reporting values.
    14. Enters results correctly in computer with no more than 2 errors monthly.
    15. Records quality control correctly and consistently in computer and on correct form.
    16. Reports results within established guidelines following lab protocol based on specimen status.
    17. Performs and records corrective and preventative maintenance and instrument function checks in a consistent and timely manner per procedure.
    18. Interacts with service personnel to troubleshoot instrument.
    19. Develop personal knowledge of trends, developments and techniques through journals and trade publications, in-service and continuing education. Document personal attendance and presentations per lab policy.
    20. Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants and protocol.
    21. Identifies patient per laboratory procedure 100% of the time.
    22. Assist in maintaining supplies. Restocks an item to insure availability to staff, documents consistently the receipt and opening of a supply and stores them properly. Recognizes depletion of item and notifies appropriate personnel to reorder. Monitors the expiration dates of all supplies and reagents.
    23. Review worksheet status, technical inquiry, collection lists and print worksheets for technical and clerical accuracy and assure necessary corrections to appropriate records are made by appropriate personnel. Review worksheets for proper turn-around-times, check for technical and clerical errors.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:

    • 3 years full time acceptable clinical lab experience
    • Must have recent experience in phlebotomy

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS/EDUCATION:

    • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited school
    • Certified by a recognized certification agency or certification eligible by a recognized certification agency (ASCP or NHA)
